Willow has been attending puppy and dog training classes and has recently achieved her bronze certificate. Her owners have said that they have found the classes so helpful as they did not know how to train a dog before attending. Both Willow and her people have learnt so much and coming to training classes that use kind, effective methods has allowed their relationship to flourish. We look forward to seeing their future successes!
Willow has been attending classes at our Blue Cross site in Ipswich.
Being an outdoor venue, Willow has worked on a range of behaviours around dogs, wildlife and other distractions. Some of the behaviours we have covered in classes include:
Recall
Loose lead walking
Emergency stop
Impulse control
Offered eye contact and checking in
General behaviours such as sit, down, stay
Trick behaviours such as spin/twist
Willow’s owners have been attending classes at the Blue Cross in Ipswich and have worked hard on their own training skills. As a result, they have been able to teach Willow a range of behaviours and set her up to be successful in her environment.
Willow is able to respond to general cues such as sit, down, stay, response to her name, recall and emergency stop, hand touches and other behaviours such as paws up and spin/twist. She has an amazing focus on her owner during classes and offers natural check-ins. Willow was even able to go on holiday with her family due to their hard work and training, which is such an achievement at such a young age. Being at classes also allowed her owner to ask questions to keep Willow safe whilst on holiday, by making sure that she was not being over-excised.
