Dog training in Colchester

21/12/2020 - Welcome to Best Behaviour Dog Training

We are very proud to announce that Best Behaviour Dog Training is now offering dog training classes in Colchester.

Classes have already started at Dog Play Centre in Colchester CO4 5JB – which is just off the A12 and incredibly easy to find. The Dog Play Centre has fantastic facilities. Large, fully enclosed paddocks, plenty of parking and an indoor area for wet days. There’s lots of space for social distancing and I’m confident that we can be COVID safe.

At the time of writing, we’re in covid tiers  and we can run in all three tiers and have online contingencies in case of a lockdown. However, as regular customers will know, all of our dog training is set up so that we can easily run classes online if we’re unable to meet in person.

What dog training is available in Colchester?
We’ll be offering puppy and dog training classes on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons. For times- see below. And with oodles of space, we’ll be able to work on lots of different aspects of dog training and tailor the classes to suit all of our students – the humans and the canines.

Classes are mixed with puppies, adolescents and adult dogs all working side by side for as many benefits as possible. We’ll be looking at

  • Good doggie manners around people, dogs and other animals
  • Loose lead walking
  • Basic obedience
  • Doggie life skills
  • Socialisation
  • Fun games and trick training
  • Scent work
  • Impulse control
  • Toilet training for those who need it (puppies and dogs only!)

Mixed ability classes
At Best Behaviour Dog Training dogs and humans of all abilities are welcome to join our classes. Because training is tailored to the individual there’s no competition between students and we honestly believe that everyone can learn from each other as well as from the dog trainer running the class.

A typical dog training class has 6 – 10 canine learners, all different ages, breeds, backgrounds and lifestyles. For example, in a typical lesson, we might have a 13 week old pup learning his or her name, an experienced agility dog working on a new manoeuvre, an adolescent dog learning impulse control and an older dog enjoying some scent work exercises. Amongst the humans, there might also be a mix of young handlers, first time dog owners and  lifelong pet lovers.  Every lesson is different, but more importantly, every lesson is fun.

When to join a dog training course
Best Behaviour Dog Training don’t have set starting and finishing dates for dog training classes. Instead you can purchase a block of 6, 10 or 14 classes and join whenever you’re ready. Which means that you come along as soon as your puppy has finished his or her vaccinations rather than wait for the next course to begin. You won’t lose money either if you decide to take a holiday or if we go back into lockdown. Lockdown dog training works really well online – believe me I know – I’ve had lots of practice this year!

What happens if we go into COVID lockdown?
Zoe and the Best Behaviour team are here to support you whatever else is happening in the outside world. If Colchester goes into a full lockdown so that we cannot meet face to face for our dog training sessions, we will make the classes available online. Using Facebook Live, Dogversity, telephone support and a wealth of other technologies, we can help you train your pooch in the safety of your own home. If you have already paid for your dog training classes – you will absolutely continue to get great value for money – even if we can’t be together for a while.
