We all want to make the most of our bank holiday weekends – so we thought we would compile a list of our top 5 recommendations for things to do with your dogs during your time off!
A Day Out in Nature
Getting out and about on a different walking route is great enrichment both for us and our dogs! Check out our blog on
Suffolk dog walks for some inspiration on where you can go!
Enrichment Games at Home
We all love a day off to just chill out at home from time to time – our dogs are no different! So why not try some doggy enrichment games. We highly recommend scent games, training and novel chews. You can find more information by reading our
Rainy Day Brain Games blog! Why not also check out our
Dogversity learning portal, for courses such as Scent Detectives, Agility at Home and Games & Challenges!
A Doggy BBQ!
BBQs are a bank holiday staple – so what better than to make sure our furry friends are included by cooking up some treats for them, too! Some tasty, safe treats include: the classic sausage; chicken breast; the meat from ribs (don’t give them the cooked bones as these can splinter and get stuck in your dog’s mouth, throat or gut!); pork chops; burgers (make sure they don’t contain onion!); lamb burgers. Many fruits and veggies are also dog safe, so check online to see if you can share these with your dog, too!
Bring Out the Paddling Pool
If we’re REALLY lucky, there’ll be some sunshine over the bank holiday weekend (sorry – don’t blame me when it tips it down!). Providing a nice, cool paddling pool is not only a great way to help our dogs chill out on a hot weekend, but also a brilliant form of enrichment which we can provide at home.
Simply Enjoy Time Together!
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to do anything spectacular – simply enjoy the extra time you get to hang out together. As many of us have experienced, our dogs are never with us for long enough and no one ever looks back and thinks they spent too much time with their dogs. Chill out and enjoy your time off in each other’s company!
