Here at Best Behaviour, we always strive to provide quality, ethical and progressive training for you and your dogs. We’re big believers in waving goodbye to the “six-week puppy course” of old and instead encouraging owners to invest time in building a solid, long-lasting and well-trained foundation. Ongoing training in group classes and under the guidance of professionals helps dog owners to support their dogs through every life stage and challenge, preventing many common problems with thoughtful and effective training and getting on top of issues as and when they crop up. This is why we offer a comprehensive 44-week general training course as well as a wealth of other courses to enrich and progress your training!
We are a small but passionate team of trainers and behaviourists who want to help as many dogs and humans meet their training needs and goals – so we wanted to make sure you all know what services and courses we have available for you!
44-Week Group Classes
Group classes are the perfect way to provide dogs with a safe environment for correct socialisation. Unlike many short, tick-box puppy courses, our 44-week course provides ongoing and progressive training for dogs of any age and ability and our skilled trainers will tailor the learning to suit the needs of every individual attending. Dog training is like a jigsaw puzzle, with many pieces being needed to create the complete picture of a well-trained dog – that’s why we cover a range of things in this course including recall, lead walking, manners at home, impulse control, engagement, fun games, tricks and much more! Our focus is always on why we teach the things we teach and how they apply to real-life situations. Our classes are all run in outdoor settings, so dogs are comfortable and you can be assured that the training works in real world environments!

121 Sessions
If you have specific training goals in mind that you want to focus on right away or are struggling with any common training problems such as, house training, jumping up at home or over excitement on walks, a 121 session is a great way to work closely with your instructor to address your needs. Our friendly, helpful instructors are always happy to work directly with you and your puppy to deliver a bespoke training plan that will work for you.

Lead Walking Masterclasses
Our popular Ultimate Lead Walking masterclass is an intensive, 3-week course focused on perfecting those loose lead walking skills that are so important to many of us. This course provides easy-to-follow exercises that break lead walking down into simple steps and make training fun. No more avoiding other dogs to save your arms being pulled out of their sockets or struggling to get your dog’s attention! This course can be done by itself or as a supplement to our 44-week general class.

Recall Masterclasses
Our Ultimate Recall class is another 3-session intensive course, spread over 12 weeks. This course really focuses on the science behind how our dogs learn so we can ensure we make the right choice the easiest choice. This class includes a 12-week training plan to implement between each session, so you can go back to basics and train a reliable recall in a safe and effective manner. Many recall courses fail to include vital skills our dogs need to develop to be able to recall in a variety of real-world environments – Ultimate Recall focuses not only on basic recall exercises but important elements of recall training such as impulse control and engagement, as well as how we keep our dogs motivated and make sure recall training is always fun for our dogs.

Social Skills
Part of our exciting Power Hour workshops, this one-off session is jam-packed with information to help you understand your dog’s behaviour and needs. This class focuses on creating calm, confident dogs who can behave appropriately around other people and dogs, providing you with a clear set of actions so you can ensure you have the well-mannered dog we all dream of!

Heelwork Like a Pro
Another exciting addition to our Power Hour sessions, this workshop delivers top-tier training in a simple and effective way. Get ready to strut your stuff like the Crufts champions and see just what you and your dog can achieve when you work together! This class is a wonderful supplement to general obedience classes, whether you are looking to perfect your loose lead walking, challenge your dog with something new or are considering an obedience-based dog sport!

Fun Gundog
Our Fun Gundog course is one of our most beloved and popular courses! This jam-packed, 3-week course is perfect for any breed of dog – they don’t have to be a gundog breed – and focuses on areas such as on and off lead heelwork, retrieving, recall and directional cues. If you want to progress your training, strengthen your bond with your dog, improve their listening skills and develop their impulse control, then this is the course for you. We love seeing our dog and human teams excel on this course, putting their training foundation to use and exceeding all expectations.

Scent Detectives
One of the most exciting courses we offer, Scent Detectives is a chance to see your dog in their element and get to experience the innate talent our dogs have! No matter the breed, all dogs love to use their noses – there are endless benefits to scent work (read all about them here!). Delivered by a qualified Scent Detection Instructor, trained and assessed by operational scent handlers, this 3-week course will teach your dog how to identify and indicate scents just like a real detection dog would.
