Puppy & Dog Training Classes, 121 Training & Impulse Control Masterclass

Overview

As a student of equine behavioural science Basils mum knew how it is vital to choose a trainer who has a strong background in animal behaviour and ethology. There are a worrying amount of dog trainers offering their services using techniques which science has debunked and demonstrated to be detrimental to our pets. Best Behaviour Dog Training were chosen because their entire ethos was built around the ideal of positive reinforcement and the instructors all have a background in canine behavioural science. As a puppy owner Elena says we have been an invaluable resource for her.  Basil was a lockdown puppy which meant he was able to take advantage of our 1 2 1 sessions so that we could start establishing some puppy basics in peace and quiet and without distraction.

Elena says ' They explained in great detail the learning curve of young dogs, explaining about the importance of sleep, staying under threshold, building resilience and tolerance - all vital life skills for any dog. They also help work with owners to refine your timing and skillset, giving you very worthwhile advice on the affects of over stimulation and over adrenalising your dog - steering people away from frenetic ball games and towards calmer brain engaging tasks which make for a much moire relaxed dog. Basil and I then progressed to some classes which were absolutely fantastic and run brilliantly. We were given homework had videos to watch and had a clear plan of what we were working to achieve. Inevitably canine adolescence is a time when things might begin to go array and Zoe and her team were a huge source of comfort and reassurance. They were always on the end of the phone, or in their Facebook groups and were tireless in giving advice and tips to get through the more challenging periods of dog ownership. Their support and encouragement has been invaluable. I have had a couple of issues, one of which was my poor dog being attacked when out and suffering a nasty injury. Zoe and her team helped me work through his subsequent fear and over arousal around other dogs and have definitely made a situation that could have had lasting consequences little more than a blip in puppyhood. I am really looking forward to taking Basil to some of the scent work classes and gun dog classes which they are hoping to run and could not recommend Zoe and her team more highly'

Process

Basil was a lockdown puppy and started the training process with us via online 121 training which progressed to training classes and specific masterclasses. Sadly Basil was also attacked by a large out of control dog whcih saw him feeling nervous around other dogs. We were able to give help and advice to rehabilitate Basil after this traumatic event.

Result

Basil is a content, happy well behaved mischevious bundle of joy. He is full of energy and has a zest for life as well as being a well trained member of the family. Basil has achieved a lovely balance between well trained and still being able to be a dog and have the most amazing life any dog could ever wish for.
