Zuko and his owner are an amazing team to have in class. Their relationship is evident to see and his owner has been working hard to progress their training. They have already achieved their Bronze certificate together and are on the way to their Silver certificate. Zuko is always so enthusiastic for his classes, we look forward to seeing more of his progress.

Process

Zuko has been attending classes at our Blue Cross site in Ipswich. Being an outdoor venue, Zuko has worked on a range of behaviours around dogs, wildlife and other distractions. Some of the behaviours we have covered in classes include:

Engagement with his human.
Loose lead walking.
Recall.
Emergency stop.
A wide range of fun tricks that help to build the human-dog bond, but can also be used in real life situations, such as vet visits, or when handling at home.

Result

Zuko is his owner’s first dog and initially she was wondering whether she had made a mistake and whether she would have to give him back. Thankfully his owner signed Zuko up to classes here at Best Behaviour Dog Training. Since joining classes his owner has learnt a lot about how to keep Zuko busy and manage his behaviour. For example, Zuko likes to bark when he gets excited, and his owner has learnt new management techniques to deal with this. Within classes we have observed a reduction in the barking. Zuko now listens to everyone in the household, including his 9-year-old human brother!

Zuko’s owner has clearly put in a lot of time and effort into his training and they are a great team to watch in classes. Zuko is always so focused on his owner and is so excited to arrive at training each week. We look forward to seeing more of Zuko’s progress as he grows up.
